As we seek to understand the heart of God for us, and allow the Holy Spirit to transform us, we should reflect God’s heart for His creation more than we reflect our desires for comfort. Generosity should become something that is second nature to every person who declares that Jesus is their savior, because God has been abundantly generous with us. Next level generosity is moving beyond the monetary concept of giving and beginning to reflect God’s heart of redemption for His people. We are set apart, yoked to Christ, and that means dying to the burden of being in control of our own outcome. Our outpouring of generosity should stem from the inside out, speaking life over its recipients, because we have been given life.
Our expressions of giving should cause others to be seen, because we are seen and known by our creator.
Where in your sphere of influence is God calling you to speak life, see the unseen, and wave the cloak of redemption? Next level generosity not only blesses those around us, but it blesses the heart of God for us.
Do we live out a transformative generosity in all aspects of our lives to the world around us?
It’s easy to think that being generous is about a prosperity gospel, or what a person’s monetary value can contribute, and in return gain. Jesus’ followers are called to be generous, but that encompasses so much more than a dollar sign, an obligation to a church, or fundraising for a cause. God is calling us to generosity that stems from the inside out. The generosity God calls his believers to is countercultural to the idea that says we must pull ourselves up from our own bootstraps, that we’re responsible for our own successes, and we reap the rewards of our hard work. Jesus teaches us to put that mindset to rest when we say yes to him. His generosity transforms lives, rescues sinners, speaks purpose and value into the lost, and breaks down cultural barriers. So often we find ourselves giving like it’s one more thing to check off our Christian to-do list, and miss the whole point. We fall short of trusting God in everything we have and give ourselves credit that belongs to Jesus. Do we live out a transformative generosity in all aspects of our lives to the world around us? Are we living like we hold the secret to transformation because we’ve allowed ourselves to be transformed?
