ARTICLE V. SALVATION THROUGH GRACE
- “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” (Eph. 2:13)
- “For by grace you have been saved…” (Eph. 2:8)
- “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Rom. 6:23)
I was driving though the Costco parking lot today trying to find a spot and I saw a bumper sticker that summed it all up. It said “HE>I.” So simple yet so unique to the Christian faith. We can do nothing to earn it, and we have done nothing to deserve it. Some would even say we can’t even get to the cross without the urging of the Holy Spirit calling us to the Father. But why is this important? The Bible tells us in Romans 6 that the wages or sin, or the cost or result of our disobedience and disregard of the Laws of God are death. Our spirts can’t live or be alive with Him (in Him we live and move…Acts 17:28) when we are contaminated by a sinful life. From Adam, we’ve proven our inability as man to do right and live righteously with the Father. Therefore, it required a loving God to make a way for us to be in communion with Him, as that was His original desire for his creation.
Communion required compassion on man by the Father to grant us Grace and Mercy, for it is only by His grace, that we are saved. Thanks be to God alone, that no matter how far we have been and no matter how close we think we can get, it’s only by the blood of Christ that we can be one with the Father.
Christ is our sacrifice, our redeemer and our savior. His willing chose to take our sin upon himself because he loved us so much, that is so amazing. Call me lazy but I just don’t have the desire, discipline or motivation to work for heaven. Is that bad??? I’ve always found that when I try for something, I screw up more. I always fail at doing it. Grace gives me the kiddie bumpers in life, just like bowling… I no longer have the fear of gutter balling my life, I know that if I get too close to the edge, His grace will guide me back into the center. To think, He loves me so much that he not only died for my screwups, but He continues to give me grace in my life that I don’t carry the shame and regret from the bad choices I have. Thank you, JESUS!
