Article 8: Daily Christian Life
• “Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection…” (Heb. 6:1)
• “Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” (2 Cor. 7:1)
• “But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.” (Prov. 4:18)
Holiness is something that I feel, in the Church, is talked about the least, understood the least and is what we are called to live the most. When we are washed clean by the blood of Christ, and allow Him to transform us when born again, we have the ability to be holy and righteous. The amazing thing about truly living a Christan life of holiness, is we have the ability through Christ to actually be holy! Not only are we made holy, or seen as holy thanks to the blood, but because of the blood, we are empowered to turn away from sin and live a holy and righteous life. That is a powerful realization, we can be holy. I see holiness as a gift from the Holy Spirit, not something that we need or must accomplish. It is an opportunity to be led by the Holy Spirit and live a life pleasing to the Lord. The author of Hebrews cheers us on in our faith growth, calling up on to perfection or the perfect image of Christ. Paul calls us to be perfecting or being continually in the process of perfecting our holiness knowing that as Solomon said in Proverbs that as we do, we will shine brighter and brighter every day.
